The district tournament will start the following week with the higher seeded team at home. Maumelle is currently second, behind Sylvan Hills, and one win puts the Hornets in the state tournament at Hot Springs.

Maumelle’s 2021 winless slump continued and are now 3-10 overall and 0-6 in the 5A-Central.

Maumelle’s 2021 winning streak came to halt on Tuesday when the home-standing Sylvan Hills Bears defeated the Hornets 73-61.
Junior guard Nick Smith led the way for Sylvan Hills with 22 points and is widely regarded as one of the best juniors in the country.
