Maumelle Charter finished its regular season at 15-8 and 11-5 in the 2A-5 district standings.
Bigelow won the conference with a 13-3 record in the district and Lisa Academy North finished second at 12-4 with Maumelle Charter, Hector and Conway St. Joseph all at 11-5.
But the Falcons are in third since they beat Hector and St. Joe twice during the regular season, with Hector coming in fourth.
The district tournament is scheduled to start this week but the heavy snow and cold temperatures make that unlikely.
“We are just taking it day by day,” Maumelle Charter coach Josh Sensabaugh said. “If we do not get to play, then we will be taking the top four teams to the regional tournament.”
That will be the following week at Melbourne.
As it stands right now, and if no district tournament games are played, Maumelle Charter would face White County Central at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. The winner would then advance to the 2A state tournament the following week that would also be held at Melbourne.
Maumelle Charter lost to White County Central in the Falcons first game of the season, 57-52, back on Oct. 26. Falcons guard Caleb Ross had 28 points and nine steals in the loss.
Check out my highlight - hudl.com/v/2EWPhf. Tough first game on Tuesday night vs. a solid White Co. Central team. Sadly, we fell short by five but I had a total of 28 points and 9 steals. Couldn’t do it without my coach, and team @CoachSensabaugh
White County Central has since gone 18-5 overall and 10-2 in its conference.
The conference paired up against Maumelle Charter’s is the 2A-2 and it was announced Monday afternoon that they had cancelled its district tournament, sending the top four to regionals.
So going are:
Melbourne (14-6) (11-1)
White County Central (18-5) (10-2)
Tuckerman (19-11) (8-4)
Sloan-Hendrix (8-18) (5-7)
That doesn’t change the matchup for Maumelle Charter, but will have an impact on the regional schedule, that can be viewed by clicking here.
