The Arkansas Activities Association announced Friday afternoon that the high school basketball regionals would mostly start on Saturday with next week’s state tournaments delayed a day.
That means the Maumelle Charter game against Salem at White County Central will now be played at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night. If the Falcons were to win, they would play at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, with the finals on Tuesday.
Central Arkansas Christian will play both of its game at Lamar on Sunday.
CAC girls against Atkins will get the day started at 1 p.m. and it will be followed by the CAC boys game against host Lamar at 2:30 p.m.

That means the Maumelle Charter game at White County Central as well as the Central Arkansas Christian games at Lamar has been postponed and no makeup dates has of yet been set as it depends on weather and road conditions on Friday.
Some plans floating around include a full day of games on Saturday that would start at 10 a.m. with semifinals on Sunday, and finals on Monday. It would mean that the state tournaments scheduled to start next week, would begin on Wednesday instead of Tuesday.

After winning the district tournament last week, Maumelle Charter takes its next step in the postseason and will play in the first round of the Class 2A regionals on Wednesday.
The Falcons (20-9) will face Salem (9-13 at 8:30 p.m. in a game that will be played at White County Central in Judsonia, about 10 minutes north of Searcy. From Maumelle, it is about a 70 mile drive that will take a little over an hour, depending on traffic.
Salem is the No. 4 seed from the 2-2A, while the Falcons are the No. 1 seed.
The winner moves on to the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, against the winner of SloanHendirx -Marshall. A win on Wednesday also puts the Falcons in the Class 2A state tournament at Junction City, while the loser sees its season end.
The championship game is Saturday night and will be played at 7:30 p.m.
The teams on the other side of the bracket are: Melbourne, Bigelow, Conway St. Joseph and Tuckerman.
