North Little Rock’s undefeated season ended Tuesday night when the home-standing ‘Cats lost to Little Rock Central, 80-73.
Key to the win was Central’s Bryson Warren, one of the country’s top sophomores, who finished with 25 points and eight assists. Warren made five three-pointers in the game.
It didn’t look good for North Little Rock as Central looked to make it a landslide as the Tigers were up 46-31.
North Little Rock rallied in the third quarter and were actually in the lead before Central stormed back late to take the win.
North Little Rock is now 6-1 and 0-1 in the 7A-Central, while Central stands at 9-3 and 1-0.
D.J. Smith led North Little Rock with 21 points, while Tracy Steele and Ke’lel Ware both had 12.
Ware, depending on who you ask, is either 7-foot or 6-11. Regardless, the junior forward is a nationally ranked college prospect.
Girls
North Little Rock started off 7A-Central play by notching the 68-63 win against Little Rock Central. North Little Rock is now 8-3 and 1-0 in the conference, while Central is 5-6 and 0-1.
Amauri Williams, a 6-foot-4 sophomore post, led North Little Rock with 18 points, while Arin Freeman chipped in 16.
North Little Rock travels to Conway this Friday and are back in North Little Rock next Tuesday when they host Little Rock Southwest.
