Basketball: North Little Rock marching towards state tournaments

North Little Rock’s Johnny Rice and Daryl Fimple have their respective teams as locks for the 6A state tournament at Fayetteville in March.

The question is, how will both teams be seeded?

For Rice, and his ‘Cats, North Little Rock is currently second in the standings after losing to Little Rock Central, 75-67, on Tuesday. North Little Rock is 7-2 in the 6A-Central with both losses to league leading Central. Bryant is third.

North Little Rock is 13-2 overall and will play host Conway on Friday and next Tuesday, North Little Rock will travel to Little Rock Southwest.

Fimple’s team took care of business on Tuesday night and defeated Central, 62-48.

North Little Rock is third in the standings, and trail Conway for second place, but that will change this Friday with Conway coming to town.

North Little Rock is 14-5 overall and Fort Smith Northside is undefeated in conference play and 19-1 overall to lead the league.

Why does it matter? The top two seeds are given byes in the state tournament.
