Guard D.J. Smith signed a letter of intent to play college basketball at UALR on Saturday.

Smith, a recent North Little Rock High School graduate, was all-state last season when he led the ‘Cats to the school’s 15th state basketball championship overall, and the fifth under coach Johnny Rice.

Smith is a 5-foot-11 and 160-pound point guard, who was the floor leader for Rice and the ‘Cats this past season.

An honors graduate, Smith also had offers from New Mexico State and Georgia Southern but chose UALR after getting late interest from the Trojans.
