Basketball: State tournaments here for CAC, Maumelle, North Little Rcok

High school state basketball tournaments start across Arkansas this coming week with teams from Central Arkansas Christian, Maumelle and North Little Rock competing in their respective classifications.
First up is Maumelle in the Class 5A State Tournament at Pine Bluff.
The Hornets will play at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb, 28 against Sheridan. Maumelle is 18-11 and is the 5A-Central champ while Sheridan is also 18-11 and the No. 4 seed from the 5A-South. This is the first meeting between the two schools this season.
If the Hornets win, they would play again on Thursday, March 2 against the winner of Siloam Spirngd and Greene County Tech. That game would tip at 8:30 p.m.
The semifinals would be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday March 4.
The other teams on Maumelle's side of the bracket are Pine Bluff/Sylvan Hills and Nettleton/Van Buren.
CAC enters the Class 3A State Tournament at Lamar as the No.3 seed from its region after having won the consolation game on Saturday against Riverview, 66-60.
The Mustangs (23-7) will face Newport, the No. 2 seed from its region at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1. Newport is 15-12 overall and this will be the first game this season between the two teams.
The winner of that game would advance to the quarterfinals against the winner of Dumas and Booneville at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2. The semifinals would be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 4.
Other teams on CAC's side of the bracket are Charleston/Camden Harmony Grove and Rose Bud/Manila.
In Class 6A, both North Little Rock teams are headed to Rogers for the state tournament and both are the defending state champions.
As the No. 4 seed from the 6A-Central, the 'Cats get Fayetteville's Purple 'Dogs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1.
Fayetteville is 20-9 overall and the No. 5 seed from the 6A-West. The two teams have not played each other this season.
The winner of that game gets Bentonville West at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 3. Little Rock Central is the No. 2 seed from the Central and has a first-round bye. The Tigers get the winner of Springdale and Conway.
The semifinal is at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 and the bracket is here.
North Little Rock enters the 6A girls state tournament 24-5 and will have a first-round bye. Daryl Fimple's squad gets the winner of Springdale Har-Ber/Jonesboro at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 3.
