Nathan Clayborn, a long-time assistant coach at North Little Rock, was recently named to replace the retiring Johnny Rice as the school’s next head basketball coach.
Clayborn has spent all but one year of his nearly two decade career at North Little Rock where he started in 2004 as a head basketball coach at Lakewood Middle School.
He joined Rice’s staff in 2012 when the former was promoted to head coach for the ‘Cats.
That season was the first of six championships won by Rice and North Little Rock. Clayborn was an assistant for five of those titles, with the gap year being a season spent as Marion’s head coach.
“I am excited about this next chapter – to lead the Charging Wildcat Boys Basketball Team,” Clayborn said. “I look forward to continuing my role in developing these young men to be exceptional student-athletes.”
Clayborn has two degrees from Arkansas State and is married with a son.
That’s awesome news! Wishing him the best! Congratulations to Coach Clayborn!!
