North Little Rock made it look easy against West Memphis last Friday as the undefeated ‘Cats rolled to a 41-0 win at the 6A school.

Up next for North Little Rock is the start of 7A-Central conference action with a trip to winless Little Rock Central.

Central has struggled early this season with new coach George Shelton at the helm. Shelton, formerly at Dumas, is used to winning but the offense has sputtered while the defense has given up 111 points in the three losses.

On the other hand, North Little Rock’s defense has been sterling.

The ‘Cats held West Memphis to an astonishing negative nine yards rushing last Friday. It was the second week in a row that North Little Rock held the opposing team to negative nine yards rushing as the ‘Cats did the same thing at Fayetteville, in the second game of the season.

West Memphis managed just 54 yards of total offense and only converted a third down once in 14 attempts.

On offense, quarterback Malachi Gober was again the key for North Little Rock. The junior passed for 168 yards and three touchdowns on an 11 for 20 night.

Gober has now passed for 497 yards and seven touchdowns this season. He’s completed exactly 50 percent of his passes as he’s 35 of 70 on the season.
