Football: Hornets head to Louisiana to face Shreveport Byrd on Thursday night
www.arkansasnewsroom.com
Maumelle is no stranger to the road this season as the Hornets head to Shreveport, Louisiana for a Thursday night game against the Byrd Yellow Jackets.
The Hornets are coming off a tight 34-32 loss at Vilonia last Friday and are now 1-2 on the season.
Byrd is 2-0 on the season after beating Tioga, 18-3, last Friday. Byrd competes in Class 5A, Louisiana's largest classification and the Yellow Jackets are considered one of the state's better programs this season.
Maumelle, down 34-19, in the fourth quarter, scored 13 consecutive points against 5A-West member Vilonia down the stretch but it wasn’t enough to get the win.
History is repeating itself for the Hornets as they played no home games until October in the first season at the high school. Now, on season 11 and with new turf, the road trips are back and Maumelle won’t play at home until Oct. 1 when they host Beebe. It is one of just three home games this season for Maumelle.
In between this week’s game and then is a trip to Little Rock Christian.
