In a dual event, Maumelle's Andrew Chamblee and Little Rock Parkview's James Jointer verbally committed to the University of Arkansas on Saturday.
Chamblee, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle, chose Arkansas over Auburn, Florida, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Penn State and Tennessee.
A four-star recruit and one of the state's top prospects, Chamblee has a 3.2 grade point average and was an all-conference player as a junior.
Chamblee won't be the only college signee from Maumelle as offensive lineman Caleb Stroud and defensive lineman Nico Davillier are also considered top prospects.
Stroud checks in at 6-7 and 325, while Davillier is 6-5 and 260 and also a terrific basketball player for the Hornets.
Verbal commitments are non-binding and the first signing day period is in December, with another following in February.
Maumelle plays a benefit game at Ozark on Aug. 20 then the regular season starts at Sylvan Hills on Thursday, Aug. 26. The first home game is against Robinson on Sept. 3.
The conference season starts on Sept. 24 with a trip to Little Rock Christian, while Pulaski Academy looms on Oct. 15.
The regular season ends on Thursday, Nov. 4 with a home game against Little Rock Hall.
