It wasn't exciting but a win is a win and North Little Rock will take it as they beat Fayetteville, 14-7, on the road to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Fayetteville, expected to be one of the better teams in 7A, is now 1-2 on the year.
North Little Rock was, again, led by junior quarterback Malachi Gober who threw for 92 yards and a touchdown. Running back Torrance Moore was again North Little Rock's leading rusher with 85 yards on 25 carries and also had a touchdown reception.
As a team, North Little Rock finished with 222 yards of total offense but were penalized 15 times for 142 yards.
Key to the North Little Rock effort was fourth down attempts where the 'Cats were successful three times on four tries plus some salty defense from defensive backs Jaylen Pettus, above, and Josh Thrower, who both had interceptions in the win.
North Little Rock now travels to West Memphis this Friday. The Blue Devils are 1-1 on the season and had last week off. The last outing was a 35-13 loss to Wynne.
