Four local high school athletes were selected to be 2021 high school All-Stars by the Arkansas High School Coaches Association and the Arkansas Activities Association.
The four are:
Cole Shoemaker, Central Arkansas Christian, football
Jada Lawson, North Little Rock, volleyball
Darvis Rasberry, Maumelle, boys basketball
Bethany Dillard, CAC, girls basketball
Each player was nominated by their conference and then the team was selected by the All-Star coaches.
Like last year, the All-Star games have been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.
“While we are disappointed,” the AAA said in a press release, “This should not diminish from the accomplishments of the coaches and student athletes during the 2020-2021 school year and their high school careers.”
Shoemaker is the son of CAC head football coach Tommy Shoemaker and will play football next season at his father’s alma mater, Harding University in Searcy.
Lawson signed in March to continue her college career at the University of Arkansas and is also among the top academic performers at her high school.
Dillard signed early with Union University in Jackson, Tennessee,a Division II school with aspirations to move up to Division I and Rasberry, who led Maumelle to the 5A state finals, is still weighing his college options but has numerous offers to play next season.
