Maumelle Charter loses in quarterfinals; CAC soccer teams, North Little Rock baseball, girls soccer advance to semis on Saturday

CAC boys and girls soccer, plus North Little Rock girls soccer and baseball will all be playing Semifinal Saturday.

3A soccer at Burns Park
GIRLS
Something had to give on Friday afternoon.
In the quarterfinals on one side was Maumelle Charter, riding a seven-game winning streak and on the other was an undefeated Episcopal Collegiate squad.
At stake was a trip to the semifinals on Saturday at North Little Rock's Burns Park.
It was Episcopal Collegiate that came out ahead, 3-0, in a game that they led by the same margin at the half.
Hannah Jackson scored the first and second goals for Episcopal Collegiate (14-0-1), while Olivia Jackson added the last goal to set the final margin. The team will now face Harding Academy in the semifinals at Noon on Saturday.
Maumelle Charter ends the year 9-4-2.
On the other side of the bracket, and in a schedule change, Central Arkansas Christian, rolled past Conway St. Joseph, 7-0, in the 2 p.m. slot and at the same time as the Maumelle Charter match.
The game had originally been scheduled for 10 a.m. but had been changed to accomodate a high school graduation in northwest Arkansas for Lifeway Christian.
CAC will now face Green Forest at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The semifinal winners will play for the title in Benton next week.

BOYS
It was a thrilling finish for CAC in the boys quarterfinals on Friday.
The Mustangs defeated Cave City, 3-2, on a penalty kick from Isaac Rine in extra time to seal the win.
CAC is now 10-3-3 on the year and will face Green Forest in the semifinals. Green Forest is 19-0-1 on the year and the match will be played at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
And it means CAC will face Green Forest in both the boys and girls semifinals and at the same time on Saturday.

5A girls soccer at Siloam Springs
Maumelle's hopes for a state championship ended on Friday at Siloam Springs as Hot Springs Lakeside defeated the Lady Hornets, 1-0.

6A girls soccer at Har-Ber High School in Springdale
North Little Rock rolled past Rogers, 3-0, on Friday and will now face Fayetteville on at Noon in Semifinal Saturday.
Conway and Bentonville West are in the other semifinals and the winners will meet next week in the Class 6A state championship match at Benton.
Randy Sandefur is still a candidate to be North Little Rock’s next head football coach, but for now, Sandefur is the head coach of the baseball team and still has more games to coach as North Little Rock beat Cabot, 5-1, on Friday in the quarterfinals on Friday.
North Little Rock (14-15) secured the win behind the arm of pitcher Jaedon Willis, who picked up the win on the mound. North Little Rock put the game away in the sixth inning when the ‘Cats scored three runs, and set the winning margin.
Key was Willis’s bat, who had a big double in the inning.
Jordan Kelly got the save for North Little Rock.
North Little Rock will face another 6A-Central rival in Conway at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals.
Conway (24-9) split the two-game series with North Little Rock this year, with the Wampus Cats winning the first game, 8-3, on March 18, while the 'Cats won, 15-3, on April 20.
