Walker told the commission that she enjoyed her time at Maumelle and offered her resignation to Mayor Caleb Norris, who accepted, sort of.
“I didn’t know I had a choice,” Norris told the commission with a laugh,
Walker, who is also a Realtor, will be devoting all her time to that career as she goes forward.
Her last day will be Dec. 29. Walker’s replacement, Doreen Mattes, has already been hired. Mattes is currently in human resources for the city of Little Rock.
“She has municipal experience,” Norris said and will start in Maumelle before Walker leaves, giving her some time to learn under her, the mayor added. The commission also discussed temporary promotions in the fire department, and will meet again in January to formalize civil service test questions.
It was a brief meeting for the commission, clocking in at 10 minutes and 38 seconds. In other new employee news: Joseph Hardy will be the city’s communications coordinator and starts next week.
