North Little Rock advances in state tournament

North Little Rock took care of business in the first round of the 6A girls state tournament in Fayetteville on Tuesday as they defeated Bentonville West, 66-36

North Little Rock is now 18-6 and will face Bentonville at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

This is the second time North Little Rock has Bentonville this season. The first game was Dec. 22 and was a 50-48 North Little Rock win.

Maryam Dauda is Bentonville’s best player. A McDonald’s All-American,  the 6-foot-4 forward has signed with Baylor and was good for 22 points in the regular season loss.

Bentonville and North Little Rock also faced off in the quarterfinals of the 6A state tournament last year at Bryant and it was Bentonville that won the game, 62-45, before advancing on to the state finals that were ultimately cancelled due to Covid concerns and Bentonville was ultimately declared the co-champ.
