North Little Rock: Special School Board meeting called on mask mandate

A special call meeting of the School Board for the North Little Rock School District is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Board will take up a resolution that requires masks by students and staff to be worn while at school, school functions in any school building.

There’s also an executive session planned as well as agenda items on new personnel and changes to the student dress code.

The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast on the district's YouTube channel.

District spokesman Dustin Barnes had previously said that support for a mask mandate was wide-spread and 3,915 North Little Rock stakeholders responded to a survey on a mask mandate. Barnes said, “82 percent of the respondents said they support a mask mandate throughout the district.”
