Yoga on a Ball blends ancient yoga techniques with a total body workout using an exercise ball that encourages muscle sculpting and deep breathing. This creates a rejuvenating flow of energy that leaves you feeling strong and centered. It is Yoga for all ability levels - low impact, body strengthening and toning - great for balance. Course level is beginner to intermediate with modifications given.

A class that teaches the benefits of quiet stretching and joint movements. Class will utilize video and internet instruction. 

Demo Beginning Yoga with Joy

This is an hour-long beginning class with standing, seated, and lying down postures. No previous experience with yoga is necessary. The pace is slow and we focus on gradually increasing strength, balance, and flexibility. Students are encouraged to use props and to modify or omit poses as needed. Please consider bringing your own mats, straps, blankets and bolster. 

Relieve tension and safely increase mobility in Gentle Yoga, a class for beginning and advanced practitioners alike. It's an excellent introduction for those who have never tried yoga before. The focus is on gentle stretching, deep breathing, and stress relief. All poses are performed seated or lying down. Class length is 45-minutes. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for free movement. 

Demo Begin Easy Moving with Qi Gong

This class is for people who are familiar with the basics of Qi Gong and Tai Chi including proper stance, balance and breathing techniques. With these basics, the class moves into the health and elegance of Qi Gong and Tai Chi movements and poses. 

Demo Walk with Ease

This program will help participants understand the 4 main types of arthritis. Participants will learn the benefits of walking for someone afflicted with arthritis. This course is a great starting point for anyone who would like to begin walking as a way to relieve pain from arthritis. Participants who sign up for this evidenced-based program are encouraged to meet at the Center on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday to walk the paths around Lake Willastein along with other participants in the program. Everyone is encouraged to walk at his or her own pace. Benefits of this program include: Decreased pain, Improved physical ability, Increased strength and Improved balance

The program fee will help cover the cost of new equipment purchased for this class.

Demo Pitch Card Game

Pitch is a game of English origin and dates back to the 17th century. There are many versions of Pitch, and while the rules have changed greatly over the years, the essential feature has always been the scoring of high, low, jack, and the game.

Wii bowling is similar to normal bowling. The player attempts to knock down 10 pins with a ball controlled by motion and hand-held device. Lots of fun without the heavy ball!

Meet at the Center for a fun bike ride around Maumelle trails! We will be taking a van trip to

bike Central Arkansas trails too! Participants must bring a bike, helmet, water, and optional lights. Participants should be able to ride a minimum of 10 miles per hour.

FIELD TRIPS 

Wye Mountain Flowers and Berries 

  • Friday , July 16, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Van Fee: $11 

This field trip is to Wye Mountain Flowers and Berries U-pick Blackberry and Blueberry farm. They also have specialty cut flowers. We will leave the Center on the Lake at 7:00am and return at 1:00pm. We will pick blueberries, blackberries and flowers for about an hour in the cool morning, then drive to Izzy's for lunch. Bring Money for your lunch at Izzy's 

The berries are sold by the level container. Buckets with liners are provided. This is a beautiful farm and all berries are easy to access. A few suggestions to make your visit more enjoyable: Wear sun protection like a hat and/or sunscreen. You may want to bring bug spray. Wear closed toe shoes. The walkways are moWednesday  but you never know when a stray weed (or worse) may try to poke you. You may want to bring a water bottle. If you forget it they have bottled water available to purchase. Bring money for your berries too.

Blueberries and Blackberries are $20 per gallon and you may pay for berries with cash, check or debit.

Witt Stephens Nature Center

Come join us on a fun filled day exploring all that is nature in Arkansas at the Witt Stephens Nature Center. The Center highlights the role of the Game and Fish Commission. The main building includes an exhibit hall, aquariums, gift shop, theater, and special education programs.

This in-person course will cover all the basics for using Zoom, the video communications app. It is designed for both those who just want the ability to join in scheduled events, as well as those who want the ability to plan and schedule events themselves. Class will be a combination of presentations and hands-on learning. It will take approximately one hour, with time for questions and individualized tutorials. I will also be available after the presentation for extra practice or guidance. Each attendee will need either a laptop (with a built-in camera), a smart phone, or iPad/tablet. Attendees will provide an email address at the beginning of class so we can practice responding to an invitation and being in a meeting together.

Andrew will be providing free golf fitness assessments for anyone interested in improving golf-specific body mechanics.
