August and Everything After
Long homestand leaves plenty of time to count crows; Grant Black's Corner plus stats, scores and so much more

Tickets to Arkansas Travelers baseball games at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock can be purchased by clicking here.
The Travs went 4-2 on the team’s trip to Springfield last week but now begins August with its brutal heat and lots of games at Dickey-Stephens Park.
The weather in Missouri didn’t do the Travs any favors as Saturday’s game was rained out, then continued on Sunday, becoming a doubleheader, which, mercifully, meant just seven innings. Then a day off, and back to the grind with seven games in six days as Wednesday is a doubleheader.
The Travs play four of five weeks at home this month before concluding the season on the road in September.
Olympics Baseball
Julio Rodriguez, the Travs star rightfielder, is playing with the Dominican Republic National Team and faces Travs pitching coach and member of the Israeli National Team Alon Leichman in a knockout round game at 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
The winner is guaranteed of at least playing for the Bronze medal, so Tuesday’s game is important..

Individual leaders
Brian O'Keefe was so good in his time with the Travs, stays at No. 9 in hitting despite being with Triple-A Tacoma. There’s no other Trav in the top 25.
Alejandro Requena is in at No. 11 in pitching and Devin Sweet stays at No. 15.

Grant Black’s Corner
About Grant Black’s Corner: This is a weekly look at current Minor-League players with Arkansas roots. Have an addition to this list? Email us at arkansas@substack.com or leave a comment on the post.
Newport's Grant Black is still in Memphis and has thrown a total of 46 strikeouts in 38.1 innings pitched for the Redbirds and Double-A Springfield.
Black, who had a birthday last month, has now appeared in 13 games for Memphis, and has a total of 23 strikeouts for the Redbirds, which means he also had 23 strikeouts for Springfield.
With the bridge, sort of fixed, it easier to get to Memphis to see the Redbirds now, at least coming from Arkansas. Problem is the Redbirds have taken flight and are gone for the next two weeks. They’re back at AutoZone Park on Tuesday, Aug. 17
Many thanks to Arkansas high school baseball expert Kevin Bohannon for his help in compiling this list. You can catch him on the radio at 103.7 The Buzz as he's the station’s high school insider. He is also the co-host of The Hawg Talk podcast, which can be listened to here. He’s also on Twitter, @CoachKBo_HTP, so give him a follow.
