While the snow has put this week’s basketball schedule into a blender, it will get warmer by the weekend and games are still good to go as the post-season is finally here.
Starting with 2A and working up
Maumelle Charter is the No. 3 seed from the 2A-5 in next week’s regional at Melbourne.
Covid precautions will be in place for the games played there, said Kevin McCarn, the school’s athletics director, who is also serving as the regional tournament director.
“Capacity will be limited and 600 is our max capacity,” he said. “Tickets will be sold online through the AAA and there will be no money exchanged at the door.”
Tickets can be purchased by clicking here and McCarn said games, “will be livestreamed by Lake Area Sports through the AAA.”

Maumelle Charter will face White County Central at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. The winner would then advance to the 2A state tournament the following week that would also be held at Melbourne.
Maumelle Charter lost to White County Central in the Falcons first game of the season, 57-52, back on Oct. 26. Falcons guard Caleb Ross had 28 points and nine steals in the loss.
3A and Central Arkansas Christian
Typically, the same school would host the regional tournaments for the boy’s and girl’s teams but this hasn’t been a typical season, so CAC is headed home and away next week as regionals get started.
CAC’s boy’s won’t leave the comfy confines of Mustang Mountain as they’ll be hosting the Region 3 tournament.
The first game starts on Feb. 24, with the finals played on Feb. 27.
The Q Crew hits the road, but won’t be going far as the girl’s regional will be played at Episcopal Collegiate.
The regional starts Feb. 24 and the bracket can be viewed by clicking here. CAC enters the regionals undefeated at 17-0 and we’ll be bold and go ahead and post the 3A state tournament bracket that starts the first week in March. Read it by clicking here.
5A and Maumelle
Maumelle’s regular season will now come to a close this Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. game against Benton at home.
The following week will be a 5A-Central district tournament with the higher seeded team playing at home and Maumelle is No. 3 in the standings and will host Little Rock Christian next Wednesday. Winner makes the 5A state tournament that will be played in Hot Springs and in the first week of March.
GIRLS: Maumelle, as the No. 7 seed, will play at No. 2 seed Sylvan Hills at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner will advance to the 5A state tournament in Hot Springs the first week of March.
6A and North Little Rock
Next week was supposed to be a week off before the start of the 6A state tournament in Fayetteville. That’s not the case now as North Little Rock and coach Johnny Rice have a game at Cabot on Tuesday, Feb. 23 and the following Friday, Feb. 26, will be a home game against Fort Smith Northside.
Coach Daryl Fimple’s squad will have a conference tournament next week and they’ve got a bye to the semifinals as the No. seed. They’ll play at home on Thursday as the higher seeded team hosts.
The conference tournament starts on Monday with Cabot hosting Mount St. Mary’s and the other game is Little Rock Southwest at Bryant. Those winners, plus the other teams in the conference will all make the 6A state tournament in Fayetteville the first week of March.
