Erikka Johnson, the interim principal at Harris Elementary, was the third quarter winner of the Inspiration in Education award from the Pulaski County Special School District.
The award was announced at the School Board meeting on Tuesday.
Johnson, above, was selected from more than 30 nominations, the district said, and took on the principal role earlier this school year.
The nominations claimed that Johnson is the “epitome of great leadership” and “she leads by example and she has raised the bar on working in the spirit of excellence amongst staff and students,” said Latanya Settles, a teacher at Harris Elementary.
Who added Johnson’s “assertive approach allows the scholars to open up to her, trust her and strive toward excellence.”
Johnson was previously the assistant principal at Sylvan Hills Middle School before taking on Harris Elementary.
Inspiration in Education is awarded quarterly with the fourth quarter winner to be announced in May.
