Maumelle High School’s All-State Coding Competition is Clayton Boothe, Hana Lovett and Toby Reid
The All-State Coding Competition is this Saturday and Maumelle High School will be among the 17 teams in the running for the title.
The team is:
Clayton Boothe
Hana Lovett
Toby Reid
The competition is in its fifth year and cash is potentially on the line.
First-place team members will get $2,000 each, while second-place team members will each receive $1,000 and third-place team members will get $500 each.
All team member cash prizes will be deposited into a 529 College Savings Plan.
Winning schools will also receive money as first-place nest $10,000, second-place gets $6,000 and $4,000 goes to the third-place finishing school.
That money will be used by the computer science programs at the winning schools.
Prize money is provided by Verizon and ARCodeKids.
The teacher and sponsor of the Maumelle team is Felicia Acord.
“The hard work began last year when this team attended their first Arkansas All-Region coding competition,” she said. “These students consistently challenge themselves inside and outside of the classroom to become better coders and problem-solvers.”
