The Dog Drama drags on. The Maumelle City Council was unable to accomplish anything in its last meeting and again has decided we the voters are incapable of deciding on this increasingly divisive issue. I’ll say it again. Let the people vote. Nuff said.
But onto more important things. It’s one of my favorite times of the year as an avid sports fan, particularly when it comes to Razorbacks sports. The men’s and women’s basketball teams are both in the NCAA tournament. The baseball team is ranked No. 1, although, after losing two in a row, they will drop a slot or two. I will use my stimulus check to finally buy a new television. My 15-year-old Sony works fine but I’m ready for a bigger screen and “smart TV” capabilities.
Speaking of sports, the Maumelle High School basketball team is playing for the 5A state championship this weekend on Arkansas PBS. The game will air Saturday at 7 p.m. on Ch. 2. All of the other classifications will be playing as well, starting on Thursday. These are great games to watch. I love them all, especially the small-town teams getting their one shining moment. I tried to watch the Grammys and just couldn’t do it. I won’t say the music of today isn’t very good (although it isn’t). Let’s just say I’m old and don’t get it.
Food Trucks Schedule
I tried the Firefly Food Truck (parked next to Morningside Bagels) and can highly recommend the burgers. Try the Hangover. It’s a massive pile of decadent deliciousness. Keep an eye on the Brandon Moving and Storage parking lot. They have an ever-changing rotation of different trucks each week.
Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m., S&K Wings
Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m., The Croissanterie
Friday, 5 to 8 p.m., Ceci’s
Saturday, Noon to 4 p.m., Smoke Beast and Cajun Trouxth
Most of the trucks have their own Facebook page. Check out their menus and specialties.

"It's not how big you are, it's how big you play." -- John Wooden, who won ten NCAA national championships in a 12-year period as head coach for the UCLA Bruins, including a record seven in a row.
Most of "the music of today" isn't really music.
