The even better news is that they are free to use for anyone with an electric car, and they were practically free to install.
The total cost of the four stations was $28,291 but $25,462.64 was covered from a rebate from the state’s Department of Energy, which itself was funded from a legal settlement with Volkswagen.
Meaning the city’s cost was $2,829.16. So not exactly free but not bad.
A level two charging station can juice up an electric car in eight hours or less using 240-volts.
So ideal for the EV driver who is downtown for work or play.
