North Little Rock: New fire station to have groundbreaking today

Today is a big day for the North Little Rock Fire Department as Station No. 8 will have a groundbreaking near Burns Park at 9:30 a.m. this morning.
The station will be located at 501 W. Military Drive and is roughly across the street from the Hospitality House.

This new station will cost $2.8 million to build and will replace the current station at 6550 MacArthur Drive. The building’s costs are covered by the half-cent sales tax that was approved in 2017 by North Little Rock voters.
The new station will feature four sleeping quarters for crew, as well as being the quarters for the battalion chief. The department’s haz-mat and bicycle teams will also be located there.
