After a one-year absence due to the ongoing pandemic, North Little Rock’s annual holiday event, Northern Lights, will return this Saturday.
The event will be held at downtown’s Argenta Plaza and will start at 3 p.m. Admission is free and is sponsored by the city of North Little Rock and the city’s Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“We’ve carefully planned this year’s Northern Lights with Covid in mind so that everyone will feel safe and can enjoy the holiday festivities,” said Erica Warden, who is Director of Sales & Events for the bureau. “The kids' activities will be spread over four hours to give families more time to enjoy without the crowd and we are encouraging everyone to social distance when possible. We encourage masks but it will not be required.”
In addition to children activities, the event will have a holiday market, food trucks and live entertainment from a diverse set of acts ranging from the duo Caleb and Abi to carolers from Argenta Community Theater’s A Christmas Carol.
Santa and his workshop will also make an appearance along with a 38-foot Chrtistmas tree.
