The North Little Rock School Board hired Chad Cope to be the high school’s next head baseball coach at its meeting on Thursday night.
Chad Cope
Cope, a familiar in Arkansas high school baseball, was previously the baseball coach at Greenbrier and had previously been the head baseball coach at Watson Chapel and left there in 2019.
While at Watson Chapel he guided them to the state championship game where they lost to Sylvan Hills in 2018.
Cope will also serve as an assistant football coach.
Randy Sandefur, the previous baseball coach, was promoted to head football coach earlier this year. Cope is just the third baseball coach at the school since the program was restarted in the mid-90s and joins Sandefur and current athletics director Gary Davis.
Also hired as an assistant football coach is D.J. Graham, who was previously an assistant football coach at Prescott.
Football season kicks off Aug. 27 with a game against El Dorado at home.
