The North Little Rock School Board will have a virtual meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The meeting will be held on Zoom and will also be streamed on the school district’s YouTube channel
The most notable agenda item is refinancing three school district bonds that total $178,710,000.
A memo from Superintendent Gregory J. Pilewski and Brian Brown, the district’s chief financial officer noted that, “interest rates are at historical lows” and being able to refinance those bonds, “without asking the voters for an extension of the current millage tax.”
Refinancing the bonds would save a significant amount of money, the memo said, as it would “generate approximately $35 million in savings over the next ten years.”
Of that, $10 million in interest savings with the remaining $25 million for future projects.
Passage seems likely.
The Board will also hear new hires and joining the certified staff are art teacher Ramona Bowers and Madison Meigs, who will teach film studies. Both will be at the high school.
Resignations will also be heard and the most notable is football coach J.D. Eldridge, and his departure will be official Jan. 27.
