An Outreach Fair for the Unsheltered will be held this Friday at Riverfront Park in North Little Rock.
The event will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m.
The Fair is sponsored by the city of North Little Rock and is being coordinated in part by North Little Rock police officer Jhailan Rathey, who was named the city’s liaison to the unsheltered by Mayor Terry Hartwick earlier this year.
Vaccinations for Covid-19 will be offered by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and each of those getting the shot will receive a $50 gift car to McDonald’s or Popeye’s Chicken.
Lunch will also be provided along with health and mental screenings.
Haircuts, shaves and a mobile shower unit will also be at the park, while various hygiene items will be distributed.
The mobile Arkansas Workforce Center will also be at the park, along with social workers who will help those in need of state ID, Rock Region Metro Bus passes, as well as assistance in signing up for health insurance, among other things.
Nearly 40 organizations, people or churches in North Little Rock and across the area came together with the city to help organize and put the event on.
If you need more information or would like to help, Rathey can be reached by email at jhalian.rathey@nlrpolice.org or NLRunsheltered@nlr.ar.gov.
