Recent North Little Rock High School graduate Sophie Nash was named the Gatorade Arkansas Girls Soccer Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Nash, who has signed to play soccer this fall at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, is the first soccer Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year from North Little Rock.
A 5-foot-4 senior forward and midfielder, Nash scored 34 goals and passed for 15 assists this past season, leading the Charging Wildcats (16-4-3) to the Class 6A semifinals. Nash was an All-State selection and concluded her prep career with 70 goals.
Nash graduated with a 4.02 GPA and is a devoted member of her church’s youth ministry. She has volunteered locally on behalf of a summer meal program for underprivileged children, a Vacation Bible School, Operation Christmas Child, a women’s shelter and youth softball programs.
She is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year award that will be announced later this month.
