The Judy Kohn Tenenbaum Argenta Community Theater will host a Shining Light: A Cabaret Celebrating Black Voices on Sunday, Feb. 25.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the one-night show will start at 7 p.m.
Shining Light is described as “a celebration of black artists throughout art history and within our community either hidden or seen. It is a celebration of black history and a herald of the future told through the perspective of members of the black community.”
The show was organized and created by Alycya Thomas, the theater’s operations manager, who also acts.
“Showing up is so important,” Thomas said. “Having an event set aside to celebrate black artists in central Arkansas is not only necessary in promoting representation and diversity in the arts, but is also paramount to helping us in finding our unique artistic voices being black in a predominately non-black industry.”
The show will feature: Val Bell, Austin Bernard, Ana Brandon, Kyndal Collins, Destaney Duguid, Torres Eskew, Nick Farr, Agnolia Gay, Evan Hamilton, Keith Harper, Tyranni Hubbard, Willie Johnson, Portia Jones, Mya Little, Tylen Loring, Marcus Murphy, Kasey Rowland and Spencer Steward.
Ana Brandon will serve as host.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at ArgentaCommunityTheater.org, and for more information, call 501-353-1443
