The snow, as expected, arrived in a big way Sunday night and into Monday morning.
The National Weather Service office in North Little Rock reported that by noon, they had measured 10.9 inches of snow over the last, roughly, 12 hours.
That snow is “tapering off” in Pulaski County, but bitterly cold conditions remain. The current high is 10 degrees with a wind chill of -4.
The Weather Service has a wind chill advisory in place until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, while most of the state is still under a Winter Storm Warning that will expire at 6 p.m. on Monday.
“Prolonged exposure could cause damage to exposed skin in 30 minutes or less,” goes the forecast. “Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.”
The forecast calls for an extended cold snap with highs of 19, 22 and 29 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with more snow expected on Wednesday. The high by Saturday is expected to be 38 with it gradually getting warmer the following week.
