Next Wednesday, March 15, the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will have a free event for those interested in starting a “side hustle.”
It starts at 6 p.m. and will be held as a webinar, a Zoom link will be sent after you register, or in-person at the The Generator in Pine Bluff at 435 S. Main St.
A “side hustle” is defined as “doing something to earn extra money - sometimes a second job but usually an entrepreneurial activity.”
"Since Covid, we've seen a jump in the number of people interested in starting a side business,” said Heather Robinette, ASBTDC Entrepreneurial Services Manager, above. “For many, they have realized pursuing a passion or favorite hobby can be lucrative. Some are combining multiple jobs to make a living. Whether someone is starting a part-time or a full-time business, we believe they need a plan. Our new training and guide show how to go about starting a side hustle the right way.”
The "Starting a Side Hustle" training event is taking place on national SBDC Day, a day that recognizes the services and impact of the national network of Small Business Development Centers.
Serving as presenter for the event is Eyona Mitchell, who has her own consulting business, EMHQ. She and her husband also own a commercial janitorial business together. Her relationship with ASBTDC dates back to 2007 when she was Empowerment Zone Director at the Downtown Little Rock Partnership.
Mitchell is currently a contracted specialist for ASBTDC. She helped the center put together its new "Starting a Side Hustle" e-book and seminar presentation.
